FINALLY these two audio projects are available after a long time in process. Both are narrated by the most excellent Siobhan Waring, who has narrated four other of my Fallen Angels books.
One of my goals has been to have all seven books in my Fallen Angels series available in audio, and with Angel Rogue, Fallen Angels #4, that goal has been achieved.
I've always had a special fondness for Robin and Maxie, the protagonists of Angel Rogue. Lord Robert Andreville is the black sheep son of an aristocratic family. He first appeared as an ambiguous secondary character in the previous book in the series, Petals in the Storm. After years of dangerous spying against Napoleon, he returns to his family home weary to the bone and with a bad case of PTSD before the term existed.
Maxima Collins' father was also a black sheep younger son, and he ended up as a traveling book peddler in New England and married a beautiful, free-spirited Mohawk woman. After the death of his wife, her father takes Maxie home to his aristocratic family in northern England, then unexpectedly dies in London. Maxie wants to know why even though it means hiking the length of Britain from Durham to London. In Yorkshire she literally stumbles over Robin, who decides that since he is every other inch a gentleman, he'll provide her with escort whether she wants it or not.
Angel Rogue is a road book, and perhaps the most light-hearted novel I've ever written, with cattle drovers, family members in pursuit, and even a Bow Street Runner. (Originally it was a Signet Regency called The Rogue and The Runaway; I later expanded it to a historical romance and expanded a couple of the subplots.) Here's a link to an excerpt.
The Christmas Cuckoo is the first time I've done an audio edition of one of my novellas, and I chose it because it's one of my favorites and a lighthearted, fun holiday story.
Major Jack Howard, a weary veteran of the Peninsular Wars, has just returned to England and intends to travel to an unwelcoming family home for Christmas. But when a pompous secretary gives him too many orders, Jack hops on the next stagecoach leaving the London inn, not caring where it’s going. Too much whisky to stave off freezing leaves him sleeping it off in a different inn—and when an attractive young woman asks if he’s Jack Howard, he happily goes home with her.
Meg Lambert had gone to the inn to collect her brother's friend, Captain Jack Howard, whom she's never met, and doesn't realize she's brought home the wrong man, Major Jack Howard. Jack realizes her mistake when he awakes the next morning with an aching head—but he finds a warmth and welcome with Meg and her family that he’s yearned for all his life. He can’t bring himself to admit that he’s a cuckoo in her nest—but what will happen when Meg’s brother and the right Jack Howard turn up for Christmas?
The Christmas Cuckoo is one of five holiday novellas in Christmas Revels. Since it's novella length, the audio versions is only about two hours long and it's bargain priced. Here's a link to an excerpt. And here's a link to a 5 star review of the audiobook.
I liked the existing covers of the ebook versions of these stories, so I kept the images for the audiobook covers, which are square.
And I have free giveaway codes for both of these productions! The codes can be used on Android and IOS (Apple) devices like cell phones, tablets, and iPods, and will work in the US, Canada, and Australia. (Sadly, not yet in the UK.) I'll give three each of these audiobooks to people who leave comments on this blog between now and Thursday night.
So happy listening!
Mary Jo. considering doing audio versions of the Silk Trilogy
Looking forward to reading these! I’ve spent the last week reading the books in The Lost Lords series.❤️

Reno Sweeney, I'm glad you've enjoyed my stories! Like the Lost Lords, the Fallen Angels is a seven book series, but they're older books for which I have reverted rights. I've published them all myself (along with other older books), so they cost less than the newer books with Kensington. Similar kinds of characters and stories, though!

No Longer a Gentleman, in the Lost Lords series, was the first of your books that I read. I've since read most of the rest of the Lost Lords series and all of the Fallen Angels series, as well as all of the novellas in Christmas Revels and assorted other books. Christmas Cuckoo is my favourite of the novellas and I reread it frequently. The Rake is my favourite of your books.

I adore these stories, which I have in print and ebook format. I thrilled that they are now available to others in audio format. I'll alert my daughter to these.

I love your books and have all those you mentioned above. You are one of my favorite authors and I have collected almost all your books so I can read them whenever I want. I am always amazed that you find new stories for each one. After so many, how you manage making each one unique is something I admire.
Just wanted to let you know how much you are appreciated.
(no need to include me in the giveaway)

Fabulous news. Exactly what I wanted in my Christmas Stocking.
Hope you go ahead with the Silk Trilogy audios ... for next year's Christmas stocking perhaps.
Very happy with Siobhan's narration. 😊

The very best of luck with them!

Anne, you have excellent taste in stories! I'm glad you've read so many of mine. Listening to them can be fun, too. Siobhan, the narrator, has such a lovely voice.

Sue, she's welcome to throw her hat into the audio ring!

Margot, thanks for the lovely words! I do try to make the stories unique, which is probably why I only write one book a year. *G* Ideas take time!

It's my pleasure to offer them, Jerry. Good luck!

Quantum, doesn't Siobhan do a wonderful job with all the different characters and accents? I lose myself in her voice because she does men and women equally well. I'm pretty sure I'll do the Silk books, but I can't think of it until after the holidays!

Many thanks, Teresa! I hope the audiobook lovers enjoy these stories.

Hi MaryJo.
Thank you for the great offer. I enjoy your books thoroughly. And the audiobooks are wonderful listening. Specially when I am able to work with my hands as well.
Looking forward to the drawing.

I love the idea of audiobooks of novellas. Sometimes you see this 10+-hour time to listen to a book, and it's discouraging. Short listens are as good as short reads!

The Christmas Cuckoo is one of my favorites of your novellas and I haven't read Angels Rogue in ages. Please enter me in the giveaway!

Ooh, I want these! I just finished Petals in the Storm just recently and was very pleased with the narration of Siobhan Waring. I have read Angel Rogue as I have all of your older titles (years ago) but find that audiobooks give even a familiar plot a fresh feel.
Posted by: Dolores Feagin | Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 06:31 PM
Kantu, you're right, audiobooks are great when you're doing something that doesn't engage the mind so entertainment is needed!
Posted by: Mary Jo Putney | Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 07:36 PM
ML, this is why Christmas anthologies are eternally popular: sometimes you just really want something short!
Posted by: Mary Jo Putney | Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 07:37 PM
Shall do, Robin!
Posted by: Mary Jo Putney | Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 07:37 PM
I've enjoyed reading both of these stories, Mary Jo. I hope that this new format will bring your stories to some new fans.
(Don't enter me in the drawing as I don't generally listen to audiobooks.)
Posted by: Kareni | Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 07:49 PM
Yes, Dolores, the story is the same but the experience is different. Siobhan Waring does a lovely job.

Mary Jo, the last one of your books I listened to on audio was Shattered Rainbows, and I loved it. I'm so glad more of your titles are becoming available on audio as time for sitting and reading is becoming so much less of a familiar concept. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Am so thrilled that you are considering the Silk Trilogy in audio. Love those stories as well as all of your work. And yes please, enter me in the drawing. Thanks.
Posted by: Lola Gaunt | Thursday, November 21, 2019 at 06:05 AM
Kareni, new fans are always good, but the major reason I do audiobooks is because some people, like those who make long commutes, really need stories to listen to!
Posted by: Mary Jo Putney | Thursday, November 21, 2019 at 07:29 PM
Thanks so much, Margaret! I've thought it ironic that becoming a writer has given me less time to read. And of course, modern life is so BUSY! But wwe need our stories.
Posted by: Mary Jo Putney | Thursday, November 21, 2019 at 07:30 PM
Lola, I'll be happy to enter your name. My ultimate goal is to have all my stories available in audio for people who prefer that format. It's pricey and time consuming, but I do like having the stories available for those who want them.
Posted by: Mary Jo Putney | Thursday, November 21, 2019 at 07:32 PM
Yes, please release the Silk Trilogy on audio! Silk and Secrets is my favorite of your books. I have been enjoying repurchasing your backlist on audio and revisiting all these wonderful stories.

Yes, it's been so fun "rereading" old favorites on audio. Thank you sincerely for going to all of the time and expense to make them available.
Posted by: Susannah | Saturday, November 23, 2019 at 08:13 PM
Susannah, I'm glad you're enjoying the stories in a new format. A lot of people really like audio, which is the main reason I'm doing this. I figure eventually I'll break even with the audiobooks. *G*
