Anne here, standing in for Mary Jo, who will be blogging on the 26th instead. And because I suspect you've heard quite enough from me in the last week or so, I'll keep this one short and sweet.
When I was I rummaging through my old photos for Jo's Ask a Wench post last week, I found quite a lot of views from a window. I do love a room with a view. And that inspired me. So here are several views from windows of my past, and I'm going to make this a little competition — a kind of visual quiz — and ask you to guess where each the window is from. There are clues at the end of the post.
Window 1 (on the right)
Window 2 on the left
So cute and round.
Window 3
Yes, it's a painting - extra points if you can name the artist.
Window 4
A view of the sea
Window 5
Far from the sea but so pretty.
Window 6
It's pretty obvious how much I like looking out at the sea, isn't it?
Window 7 -- This is a collage photo taken from a backpackers hotel window.
I was in my David Hockney collage photo stage at the time.
Look closely. Can you work out what city I'm in?
Your Clues: Two windows are from the USA; one is from a world famous imaginary village; one is a citrussy window from Europe; one is where I go on my annual writing retreat; one is a painting (extra points if you know the artist), and one is my photo collage — can you guess the country or the city?
Can you guess any of these windows? I hope it's not too hard.
*I've just woken up and with only 4 comments clearly it was much too hard. So here is another set of clues. Window 1 is a citrussy window from a famous art building in Paris, where you might also find waterlilies. Window 2 has already been guessed correctly (yay Katya) -- think small people who live in houses with round windows — a famous novel and movie. Window 3 has also been guessed correctly (and no Mary it's not cheating to check). Window 4 and 5 are in the USA - one is in LA and the other is near a place Americans like to remember. Window 6 I have posted on this blog before - a place where I go annually. Think Writers Going Backwards. And Window 7, the collage one — Mary Jo is on the right track. Or should that be the left track?
Pop your guesses into the comment section.
I'll put the answers up on Wednesday in the comments section.
