From Pat:
Peace begins with a smile--Mother Teresa
We can all afford to offer a smile. So as the new year approaches, let us all vow to smile at one another, greet each other with kindness, and make the world a better place.
And reward ourselves with a warm fire and a good book! What books did you receive over the holidays?
Peace begins with a smile. Mother Teresa

Gorgeous fire, Pat. I received no books for Christmas except from myself, but I've been reading a lot. Doing a little writing, but these days between Christmas and New Year just lend themselves to reading, I think.

None. :( But I did get an Amazon card, so I'll be buying my own!

What a lovely sentiment, Patricia! I received several books that I'd hoped for from Anne Bishop's The Others series and from Anne Cleeland's New Scotland Yard mystery series. I also had the good fortune to receive an Amazon gift card, so more book shopping is in my future.
Consider this a virtual smile sent out to all reading this!

I came back to mention that a couple of my favorite romances are currently free to Kindle readers ~ Dark Horse by Michelle Diener which is a science fiction romance plus The Year We Hid Away (The Ivy Years Book 2) by Sarina Bowen which is a new adult romance.

I think everyone has given up finding books that we haven't read yet. ;) I wish I had more time the way I used to do to snuggle down in front of the fire and just read--instead of editing, writing blurbs, picking cover images...

which is even better!

I wonder if we could all post smiles as our images on social media? It's so hard to get the pleasure across in these little tidbits and a smiley face.
It sounds like you have lots of reason to smile!

No, I didn't get books nor did I get a card — my family feels I have probably bought the book on the day it came out (and they're usually correct).
I DID get a present for my "other" hobby (our of three).
We decided that our den needed new lighting so Bob got an "all the room" light and I got an OTT light that is also equipped with a magnifier and an pattern (or project) clip.
Picture us as a happy couple!
Sending smiles to everyone here.

I got one book but I also got five Amazon vouchers! I have a birthday on the 20th of December so it's double gifts for me. My son says they couldn't put up with all the crying and sighing if I didn't get my vouchers:-) So I have some serious browsing and buying to do. Happy days!!
A very happy New Year to all the Wenches and looking forward to some great posts in 2018.
