Here's Jo, offering best wishes to you all from the Wenches.
A new year is highly symbolic, isn't it, and yet it's so arbitrary. The cycle of the year turns on the winter solstice, and up until 1751, the legal year in England began on March 25th, which can confuse us when deciding when things happened in the past.
So this particular day is a human construct, but still a useful one in evaluating our lives. I don't go for New Year's Resolutions, but I do like New Year's Wishes.
If the New Year Fairy granted you one wish for 2012 -- for yourself so be selfish -- what would it be?
I think I'd wish that I'll come to grips with my garden this year. I only had half a year with it in 2011 and it presented some challenges. The picture is of it round about this time last year. It's terraced, because the house and lot is on a hill side, and the soil is quite acid. No wonder the previous owner grew lots of heather!

So now, your selfish wish for 2012?
May it come true!
Jo

My selfish wish is to quit working my little part time job which always ends up close to 40 hours a week so I can get back to writing on a regular schedule instead of when I'm not completely exhausted.
Happy New Year, ladies!

My selfish wish for 2012 : A contract for a four book deal with a publishing house ! Nothing huge, mind you! Just enough to be able to walk into Walmart and say "The author has left the building!"

My selfish wish for 2012? Win the lottery so I can employ a cook housekeeper for me and a gardner handyman for my husband.
We are also on very acid soil and Hydrangea grow like weeds. But if you want a pink one forget it - bright blue is the rule.
Happy New Year to you and all the Wenches.
