It's Sunday, it's Edith, wishing everyone a Happy Father's Day!
And while I do, I admit that Father's Day makes me sad, because I miss my father. And I miss the father of my children.
Now, it's natural that both Mother's Day and Father's Day make lots of people remember what they once had and feel wistful, especially when everyone else is celebrating what they do have.
But I don't begrudge the general joyousness. In the words of the song:
"I've had a love of my own."
So, some advice: hug your father, or your children's father, or any father you love, a little extra hard today.
Hold them closer to your heart.
And if you only do that this one day a year, still, that's fine. Do it anyway.
It's Father's Day. Celebrate them, and the time you have together.
May it be a long and happy time.
