It's Christmastide!

Jo here on Christmas Eve, which means the Wenches will be doing their traditional Christmastide celebration and posting briefly over the 12 Days of Christmas. On the Epiphany, Janury 6th, normal service will resume.

The picture is of Cabbage Patch kid Charlie as the Christmas elf, a role he's

been playing for a very long time, given that he's thirty years old now. Here's a picture of him when he was just a little baby.

We all have our Christmas traditions, and some of them are unusual, not to say weird! Please share some of yours.

Happy Christmastide! It's a lovely way to extend Christmas through the week and past New Year's as well.

We have new and old traditions at our house -- every year from their births, I've given each of my sons a new Christmas ornament, so they'll have a set of ornaments for their own homes someday. When they were younger, I gave each one a new children's Christmas book as well, so we have a great collection. And I always set out my grandmother's tiny hand-crafted gold tinsel tree with its miniature presents and ornaments; there's Christmas baking using my French grandmother's recipes, and I always make my mother's spinach and cheese casserole (sooo good) for my dad (just did so last night).

Susan, I have given my children an ornament each year, also. I treasure the ornaments I have from my childhood. Every year I make a coffeecake from my mother's recipe, very simple,but we all like its taste. Merry Christmas to all the Wenches and Readers!
